Gov. Invites Montanans to "Working Forests, Managing Communities" Conference (HELENA) - On Thursday, June 18th and Friday, June 19th Governor Brian Schweitzer will be partnering with the Governor's Institute on Community Design to host the "Working Forests, Managing Communities" Conference at Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell. The event is free of charge, and all are welcomed to participate.
The conference is an opportunity for folks to voice their concerns and participate in the discussion on the critically important issues facing Montana as development continues.
Speakers and break-out sessions will cover topics ranging from the challenges of forest management on public lands and fighting fire in a growing wildland-urban interface, to the important role the timber industry plays in maintaining forest health and taking full advantage of emerging opportunities in biomass energy.
