Overview:
The PEI Hog Commodity Marketing Board was established in 1971 under authority of Prince Edward Island=s Natural Products Marketing Act, following a producer plebiscite in March of that year. The Marketing Board concept was acceptable to the province=s hog producers, who felt they needed an organization that had the legal authority to work effectively in the areas of market price setting, marketing and promotion. The Board=s mandate has since expanded to include industry representation in matters
